This variety of rice, “Ambemohar” gets its name from its fragrance resembling that of mango blossoms. The name is derived from the Marathi language where ‘Ambe’ means mango and “Mohar’ means blossoms. It is a short grain rice type grown in the Coastal Maharashtra in India at the foothills of the Sahyadri ranges. Rice made from this is typically sticky, fragrant and compliments India veg, fish, chicken curry or dal (lentil soup).
